Advertising Sales Representative Jobs in District of Columbia

An Advertising Sales Representative in the publishing industry is responsible for selling advertising spaces in print and digital media to businesses and individuals. They reach out to potential clients, present advertising options, negotiate contracts, and ensure the advertisement meets the client's expectations. They also maintain working relationships with existing clients to encourage repeat business. Regularly they need to meet and exceed sales quotas. Advertising Sales Representatives are required to stay updated on industry trends and should possess excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.

Important skills for an Advertising Sales Representative include excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in relevant computer software, and strong negotiation skills. They should also be self-motivated, organized, and able to work under pressure. A bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field is often required. Certifications in sales or marketing can be advantageous. Prior roles that can lead to this position include Sales Assistant, Junior Sales Representative, and Marketing Coordinator.
