What does theDigital Engagement Editor do and what kind of skills will this personneed?
The DigitalEngagement Editor is an integral team member in the newspapersEditorial Department vital in publishing press releases, monitoringthe emergency radio scanner, and maximizing the content produced byour various reporters and editors.
Good typing andwriting skills, a strong attention to detail, and knowledge of the APStyle are required for this position.
What youll do
Listen to thescanner for breaking news: traffic accidents, fires, pursuits etc.Tweet out breaking news and possibly post it to thewebsite/Facebook.
Check emailsfor content/story ideas to post/inform reporters about.
Post ourregularly produced editorial content to various locations includingour social media pages.
Assist in theday to day editing of content for publication to the website and forprint.
Monitor thewebsite to ensure continuity and publication.
Monitor socialmedia pages including The Unions Facebook page and commentssection.
Daily archivingof our finished pages produced for The Unions E-edition.
Some writingand occasional phone interviews will be involved.

The position iscurrently 32 hours a week, Wed-Sat, 10 a.m. 7 p.m. with thepotential for more hours and a starting pay of $19.50 an hour.Retirement program as well as medical, dental and vision benefitswill be available following completion of a probationary period. Workoutside of the stated schedule may be required on occasion.
