Freelance Textile & Graphic Designer (Apparel) Location: Remote (New York City area preferred, but not required)Type: Freelance / Project-Based About the Company PFI is a New York-based design, sourcing, and product development company serving leading national retailers and growing lifestyle brands. Our office is located in New York City's Garment District. We are seeking a Freelance Textile & Graphic Designer to support a variety of children's, baby, and young contemporary apparel projects. This role is ideal for an experienced freelance designer who enjoys working across multiple product categories and can bring both creative vision and production-ready execution to each project. Please include a portfolio showcasing apparel graphics, textile prints, patterns, embroidery artwork, CAD presentations, and/or production-ready artwork. Candidates without a relevant portfolio will not be considered. Responsibilities Create original graphic prints, all-over prints, patterns, and artwork for apparel Develop stripes, plaids, conversational prints, novelty prints, and seasonal print concepts Create graphics and artwork for boys', girls', baby, and young contemporary categories Develop embroidery concepts and artwork for apparel applications Prepare presentation artwork, CADs, and customer-facing design boards Create factory-ready production artwork and technical files Prepare artwork packages for overseas factories and vendors Revise artwork based on customer feedback and development needs Collaborate with designers and company leadership throughout the development process Qualifications Experience creating apparel graphics, textile prints, and surface design artwork Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop Ability to create both presentation-ready and production-ready artwork Strong understanding of print repeats, color separations, and factory production requirements Experience working with overseas factories and production teams preferred Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously Preferred Experience Children's Apparel Baby Apparel Boys' and Girls' Graphics Juniors / Young Contemporary Apparel Embroidery Development Textile Design and Surface Pattern Design Working Style This is a freelance, project-based position with flexible scheduling. Most work can be completed remotely. While not required, occasional visits to our New York City Garment District office for project kickoffs, reviews, or major development initiatives are welcomed. We're seeking a designer who has the flexibility to collaborate during standard business hours when projects require active development, revisions, and communication. This role is best suited for an independent freelance professional, consultant, or part-time creative who can actively participate in projects throughout the workweek. Why This Role?
