Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Technical Writer - Cyber / Zero Trust to support a high-impact DOD program focused on enterprise-wide cybersecurity and Zero Trust initiatives. This role will support the creation and maintenance of critical technical documentation in a secure, mission-driven environment. An active Secret Clearance is Required.
Responsibilities of the Technical Writer include:
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including policies, standard operating procedures, and system guides
- Author and manage technical Orders (TOs / TCTOs), TSIPs, and Installation Plans (I-Plans)
- Review and update existing documentation to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with DoD standards
- Create technical diagrams and visualizations such as network diagrams, data flows, and system architectures
- Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and program stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure documentation alignment
- Track and manage documentation supporting the ATO (Authority to Operate) process
- Maintain document version control, revisions, and organization within document management systems
- Participate in cybersecurity documentation efforts supporting Zero Trust architecture and initiatives
Required Qualifications for the Technical Writer:
- 2+ years of experience in technical writing within IT or cybersecurity environments
- Experience developing Technical Orders (TOs / TCTOs), TSIPs, or Installation Plans (I-Plans)
- Experience writing technical processes, procedures, and system documentation
- Strong understanding of DoD documentation standards and compliance requirements
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across technical teams
- Active Secret clearance (interim eligible)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to cybersecurity or Zero Trust environments
- Familiarity with the ATO process or eMASS
- Experience creating technical diagrams and visual documentation

Compensation for the Technical Writer includes:
- $40.00 - $50.00/hr with full benefits
