Applications will only be accepted while the posting remains active.Job Summary The Instructional Designer role partners with the Learning Readiness Manager and subject matter experts (SMEs) to design, develop, and assess effective learning solutions that meet the evolving needs of Border States employee-owners. This role analyzes performance gaps, recommends the most effective learning strategies and modalities, and determines whether learning solutions should be built internally or sourced through thirdparty vendors. The instructional Designer applies instructional design methodologies such as ADDIE or similar frameworks while remaining flexible and adaptive to organizational change, learning needs, and business priorities. Responsibilities Essential Functions

Applies instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE) to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate learning solutions.

Recommends the most effective learning modality (eLearning, instructorled, blended, performance support, etc.) based on skill, audience, and business need.

Assesses scope of organizational change and design learning that supports adoption and performance.

Designs and develops engaging learning materials including eLearning, ILT, assessments, and job aids.

Partners with business stakeholders to determine whether learning solutions should be built internally or purchased.

Clearly communicates tradeoffs, including development time and cost.

Supports vendor selection and evaluate thirdparty content quality.

Builds and maintains strong working relationships with SMEs and stakeholders.

Ensures learner centered design meets measurable skill outcomes.

Manages multiple learning projects simultaneously.

Follows and contributes to instructional design standards and processes.

Incorporates feedback and data to improve learning solutions.

Non-Essential Functions

Remains current with issues related to accessibility, compatibility, and emerging technologies, ensuring all methods are compliant, consulting with instructors as needed.

Facilitates train the trainer programs, as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with focus in instructional design, business, education, adult learning, or related field, or equivalent work experience required.

3+ years of corporate or organizational learning experience preferred.

Understanding of adult learning principles and theories.

Experience in designing and developing engaging learning experiences across various formats (online, blended, face-to-face).

Passion for leading teams by mentoring and fostering the professional growth of others.
