We have an immediate opportunity for a Safety Procedure Technical Writer in the Los Angeles area. This individual will be responsible for producing and formatting learning materials. This is a hybrid position which requires Tuesday and Wednesday in the office. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for writing, cataloging, publishing and maintaining operations policy and procedures
  • Ability to review publications and recommend revisions or changes in scope, approaches, format, and standards for publication
  • Excellent communication as this position requires consulting with SMEs (subject matter experts) and content providers to ensure common understanding of policies and procedures
  • Responsible for documentation, design, and drafts for job aids, performance support notebooks, and manual updates
  • Ensure documentation is field-ready, practical, and usable by craft personnel and is aligned with current standards, policies and safety requirements
  • Responsible for scheduling sessions with reviewers, SMEs, and advisors
  • Ability to seek out technical input, operational insight, and field practices and capture consensus decisions and translate them into clear documentation
  • Responsible for research, analysis and technical accuracy
  • Provide status updates and support project timelines
  • Perform on-site visits and job walks as needed
  • Ability to conduct basic image editing to support documentation
  • Ability to work with media vendors to write scripts and guide development
  • Responsible for reviewing and conducting quality assurances to ensure formatting is accurate and functionality is correct
  • Must be extremely detailed and organized
Education and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Communications, English or Journalism desired
  • 5 to 8 years of technical writing experience or 3 to 5 years of technical writing experience with strong utility/industrial/field-operations exposure
  • Proven experience producing technical or procedural documentation
  • Strong facilitation skills for Subject Matter Expert working sessions
  • Strong Organization, writing, and version control discipline
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite to include PowerPoint, Word, Excel, photo editing software, SharePoint, OneDrive, Acrobat, Outlook, TEAMS, and Copilot
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow design templates, brand and style guidelines
  • Ability to work independently and manage time in a remote environment
  • Excellent and strong organizational and file management skills
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
Upon a conditional job offer, a drug test and background check will be required. Compensation based on experience. $35-$44/hr (Technical Writer, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft, procedures, Writer, Construction, Utilities)
