* * * * Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part time employees.

Job Duties and Responsibilties:

Oversee student graphic designer in producing a bilingual Teacher Resource Guide (Palapala Kumu Ha?awina) for the following orchestral instruments, in collaboration with the language team (haumana/kumu) who will deliver language content.

  • Assist student photo-shoot pre-production/production for images of middle school or high school students playing the (approximately) 42 instruments below, including pre-production planning and forms.
  • Design ten (10) 8.5x11 pdf pages of Nane Hua ?Olelo (crossword puzzles) one for of instruments (e.g. winds, brass, percussion, strings, etc.) in both English & Hawaiian languages.
  • Design ten (10) 8.5x11 pdf pages of musical instruments worksheets (Ha?awina Pu Kani), one for each of the instruments (e.g. winds, brass, percussion, strings, etc.) in both English & Hawaiian languages.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. P ossession of a baccalaureate degree in Graphic Design, Creative Media or similar.
  2. Knowledgeable in the practice of graphic art design
  3. Experience teaching graphic art design
  4. Experience with ?olelo Hawai?i and music education design.
