This person willdirectly oversee the organizations day-to-day news coverage while playing akey role in charting newsroom strategy.
The ideal candidatewill combine uncompromising journalistic integrity with an insatiable appetitefor innovation in a thriving, tradition-rich news environment.
The largest newspaperin Nebraska, The World-Herald has served readers since 1885 and won threePulitzer Prizes. The ideal candidate will revere the institutions history butwork urgently to shape the future of the organization in a rapidly changing, multiplatformworld.
The Omaha metro areais home to more than 1 million people, multiple Fortune 500 companies, anationally renowned medical institution, and a competitive, nationallyscrutinized political environment. The World-Heralds news coverage aims tocapture the vibrancy and complexity of the region on multiple platforms and inmultiple formats.
What youll do:
Guide a team of newsreporters covering Omaha and the state of Nebraska
Help shape TheWorld-Heralds multiplatform product lineup, including newsletters, podcasts,visual journalism, and whatever comes next
Embrace a lead fromthe field model in which youre finding ways to contribute to coverage as areporter, writer, and content creator
Build and maintainrelationships with key community and company stakeholders

A proven track recordof leading high-impact news coverage in a fast-paced, competitive environment
An appreciation forthe news, politics, business, and cultural landscapes in Nebraska
A relentless desireto innovate and build new things
An excellentcommunicator and collaborator comfortable working with reporters, editors, andother stakeholders
