Job Description
We are seeking a Sr. Principal Content Strategist to join our enterprise Brand Experience team and report to the manager of Content & Editorial Strategy. The strategist will be joining a team that defines and grows the Northrop Grumman branda team that seeks opportunities to activate the communications organization to deepen our brand story at every level and amplify our expression in unexpected ways.
This role will be required to be in one of the following locations: Washington, D.C. metro area (Falls Church, VA, Dulles, VA, Baltimore, MD, Linthicum, MD), Los Angeles, CA, or San Diego, CA. This is not a remote position.
In this role, the Senior Sector Content Strategist will:
Support content strategy development and refinement: Work closely with program and sector teams in the development of impactful, relevant content related to our strategic priorities (critical programs and products). Consult with team members on amplification of those enterprise priorities across our owned channels, including branded editorial, social media, and digital activations, to build our brand awareness and reputation as a pioneering technology company.
Foster cross-functional collaboration and operational excellence: Partner with channel teams within communications who support internal and external channels, including earned media, internal communications, executive engagement, and advertising efforts, to guide omnichannel communications efforts and ensure we have the right mix of tactics to amplify our strategic priorities. Lead execution and foster successful outcomes through strong project management of these cross-functional efforts.
Develop strategic, forward-looking and actionable insights: Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making by promoting the use of insights throughout the organization to uplevel strategy and omnichannel communications. Compile and analyze data to create reports and presentations that communicate key findings and recommendations to stakeholders. Prepare and present regular reports on performance of channel strategies and create actionable plans and recommend improvements that inform marketing initiatives.
Be a thought partner and strategic advisor: Stay at the forefront of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to our business. Maintain line of sight to both macro and micro market factors and competitor activity, proactively seek out opportunities for innovation and improvement. Maintain awareness of communications trends inside and outside the aerospace and defense industry to help guide decision-making.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Economics, Data Science) with 8 years of related experience (internship experience considered), or a Master's degree with 6 years of related experience.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data from various sources.
Ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate and present complex information in a clear, concise, and compelling manner.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Proven experience in managing internal and/or external communications channels (e.g., magazines, newsletters, corporate blogs, social media.)
Experience in developing strategic communications plans and excellent writing/editing skills.
Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, up, down and across.
Preferred Qualifications:
Energetic team presence with an eagerness to learn and recommend new and innovative ideas to foster strategic objectives.
A passion for staying ahead of industry trends and a curiosity to explore new ideas and possibilities.
Demonstrated ability to engage and influence stakeholders with differing perspectives, including handling challenging situations with diplomacy and tact.
