The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) is the cornerstone college of The Ohio State University, with three mission areas dedicated to one essential purpose: We Sustain Life. CFAES is one college spread across three campuses, with our faculty and staff split evenly among the three campuses. Comprised of ten academic units including the School of Environment and Natural Resources and Ohio State ATI, plus Ohio State University Extension, CFAES has 22 bachelors degree majors, 26 associate degree majors, and 34 minors. The CFAES Marketing and Communications team serves as a strategic resource for the college. The team is responsible for setting marketing and communication strategies and plans that align with the initiatives and priorities of the college. The team supports the recruitment, retention, development, research, outreach, and issues management for the college. They are a group of strategic marketing and communication thinkers and doers who are both proactive and reactive, identifying opportunities and removing challenges to elevate awareness, enhance reputation and ultimately inspire choice for the college. The Branded Content Specialist amplifies the brand values of the college and enterprise. The Branded Content Specialist reports to the Brand Marketing Lead.
Position Summary
The Branded Content Writer develops content that increases interest in and inspires choice for CFAES among key audiences and stakeholders. The Branded Content Writer is responsible for developing audience-centric messaging, partnering closely with marketing strategy and channel marketing subject matter experts on the college marketing and communications team and across the college to create storyboards, scripts, and content calendars.
The Branded Content Writer will have a deep understanding of the voice of The Ohio State Universitys brand and the colleges expression of that brand as they develop content. Key responsibilities include writing for student recruitment and retention, marketing materials, websites, paid media and email. They will also provide guidance relative to social media content.
The Branded Content Writer will be familiar with traditional and digital marketing and communications channels. They will have an understanding of SEO, user experience and information architecture, and user interface and usability best practices.
The Branded Content Writer will have a keen insight into the way audiences engage and consume traditional and digital content. They will leverage and incorporate analytics and market data into content development to ensure content is resonant.
This a hybrid position working from the Columbus campus, with a combination of remote and in-office work. This role must be willing to travel across the state for meetings and events.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field or equivalent experience and 2-4 years of relevant experience in higher education, agency or industry.
Desired Experience
Knowledge and familiarity with higher education; experience fostering a collaborative and creative work environment; experience in brand, content strategy, content marketing, communications, channel engagement, strategic planning, implementation and optimization; ability to communicative effectively with diverse audiences; superior oral, written, editing, and presentation skills; proven ability to deliver projects that achieve strategic objectives.

The pay range salary for this profile is $51,500 - $67,250. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, units available budget, and the candidates qualifications relevant to the position
