What you'll do
Join our dynamic IT Department as a mid-career IT Communications Technical Writer. Collaborate closely with our IT Technical Writing team to support and enhance our IT communications strategy. You'll work with project managers and customers to craft user-friendly documentation, like quick start guides, Knowledge Base articles, ServiceNow content, procedures, FAQs, policies, and other end-user documents. Bring your experience in applying internal style guides and templates, and help manage and update our knowledgebase of support articles. The day-to-day
The day-to-day responsibilities of the IT Communications Technical Writer will involve a mixture of activities to ensure the production and maintenance of high-quality IT documentation and communications. A typical day may include:
Produce and maintain accurate and clear quick start guides, Knowledge Base articles, ServiceNow content, procedures, FAQs, policies, and other end-user documentation.
Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs), project managers, and customers to gather information and uphold documentation quality.
Implement and apply internal style guides and templates to maintain consistency and transparency.
Manage knowledgebase workflows for approvals and reviews, ensuring content is up-to-date.
Support IT communications through email communications, announcements, and other mediums.
Continuously seek ways to optimize documentation processes and bring to bear new tools.
What you'll need
Minimum of 3 years relevant technical writing or information management experience.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Visio) and Acrobat Pro.
Experience simplifying complex topics into easy-to-read documentation.
Ability to accept and incorporate feedback from multiple customers.
Experience managing a knowledgebase, including workflows for approvals and reviews.
Excellent written communication skills.
What will help you on the job
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field.
Familiarity with ServiceNow and Confluence.
Proficiency with Photoshop or Camtasia.
Experience with both Mac and Windows systems as well as Android and iOS mobile devices.
Ability to provide effective training sessions in various settings: one-on-one, small and large groups.
Experience using AI tools for content creation and management.
Strong attention to detail.
Self-motivated and a great teammate.
Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing.
Comfortable working with people at all levels in the organization.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
Salary range
$60,000.00 - $95,000.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $74,500.00- $111,500.00/ annually
