Instructional Designer
SUMMARY
The instructional designer reports to the director of CIDT for Southeastern Oklahoma State University. This person will provide instructional design services, which will include preparation of shells and templates and assist professors as they build quality online courses. The instructional designer will consult with faculty, review courses, make recommendations, and assist in the building process within the LMS for both Southeastern Oklahoma State University and Murray State College. The instructional designer will manage assigned training for faculty to develop the technological skills needed to effectively deliver their courses in the online format. The instructional designer will also oversee the training of student workers in the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Provide Instructional Design Services
a. Prepare and deliver course shells to faculty.
b. Fulfill course copy requests and assist with cleanup and preparation of courses.
c. Consult with faculty regarding online course design.
d. Review courses as assigned and provide feedback to instructors.
e. Assist faculty with course building and modifications within the LMS.
B. Manage Assigned Trainings and Technical Support
a. Assist faculty in becoming proficient with technologies needed for online course delivery.
b. Promote the use of interactive technologies in online courses.
c. Provide technical support for walk-ins, calls, emails, OS Ticket, and Live Chat
d. Ensure that student worker responses for technical support requests are timely, appropriate, and accurate
C. Manage Support delivered to Murray State College
a. Serve as primary liaison for support delivered to Murray State College
b. Prepare, maintain, and deliver templates, trainings, and other services for Murray State College as needed.
c. Train student workers in Murray's LMS and standard operating procedures for associated services rendered.
D. Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Instructional Design
- 1-3 years' experience working with content inside an LMS as an instructor or support staff
- Strong written/ technical writing skills
- Strong oral communication skills
- Proficient with basic applications of Microsoft Office, email, and an LMS
- Familiarity with ADA compliance needs for digital content
- Strong time management and organizational skills
PREFERRED:
- Master's degree or equivalent experience in Instructional Design
- Experience building courses within the Canvas and/or Blackboard LMS
- Technical support and/or instructional design experience
- Quality Matters Certification(s)
- Familiarity with additional programs used at Southeastern and Murray State College (i.e. Respondus, Zoom, InSpace, Yuja Video, Yuja Panorama, TurnItIn, Tutor.com, Google Suite, Adobe Applications, etc.)
- Digital Portfolio demonstrating any required or preferred skills and experience listed above or relating to the job duties for this position (may be delivered via a formal portfolio platform or a link to a cloud drive with organized files)
